DEESIGN

Expressions of art or the art of expression can be a powerful tool. Music, spoken word, street art are all expressions of activism. These performances can be just as provoking as rallies or petitions. There's even danger associated with them; these... entertainments can become wildfires to a vast audience in the matter of seconds-- regardless of the intention or message.

Many posts will be delving into using design for mobilization. Here I'll post my own designs-- these first two were intended to be t-shirt designs for my ever-inspiring little brother (cameo in ME, DEE). I hope what I find through my posts will bleed through my art.

  1. I didn't know you designed these! What did you use to make them?

  2. ;] inkscape. i had a week long obsession with vector art. i really should get back on that, but my mac is slowly failing me!
the speak poster was part of an idea i had at the end of spring quarter to put together an open mic series on different human rights issues (education, women's rights, hunger, etc.). i wanted to have local artists perform about the topic and have relevant student orgs promote their projects. alas, it didn't happen with all the senior commotion.

    1. haha, inkscape. Those are really good, though. I'd buy the T-shirt. =P
And why not resurrect that idea for the open mic series? You don't have to be a student to organize things, do you? =)
